Celebrating her 50th birthday, Tanita Tikaram is marking the occasion with the release of a new collection of 14 songs spanning over thirty years and nine albums. Titled "To Drink The Rainbow," this album is the third release on Needle Mythology, a label co-founded by Pete Paphides, a record collector, music writer, and broadcaster.

Paphides praised Tanita's evolution as an artist, highlighting her curiosity and enthusiasm as she matured. He also emphasized her unique sound and emotionally captivating melodies, making her one of his all-time favorites. Tanita was heavily involved in selecting the songs for the album and provided notes for each of the twelve tracks, including "Only The Ones We Love," featuring harmonies from Jennifer Warnes, and the intimately raw "My Love" and the title track.

"To Drink The Rainbow" showcases the unique artwork exclusive to this release, and the songs were mastered for 180g vinyl by Miles Showell at Abbey Road. The album will be available on gatefold vinyl and CD, with the vinyl edition including a two-track seven-inch EP featuring previously unavailable songs. The CD edition will also include a bonus disc of solo acoustic performances from Tanita's archive.

This new release follows Needle Mythology's successful expanded reissues of Stephen Duffy's "I Love My Friends" and Ian Broudie's "Tales Told," further solidifying the label's reputation for quality and unique offerings in the music industry. Tanita Tikaram's "To Drink The Rainbow" continues her legacy as a captivating and evolving artist, showcasing her talents and growth over the years.
